Botany
The bitter orange tree bears a fruit called the bitter orange. Its hard skin is rough with a green or yellow tinge.
In the 16th century, orange trees were planted facing south, leaning against a thick wall.
During the winter, the trees' feet were covered with straw and then locked behind heavy oak panels that let no air or light in.
History
The Renaissance dreamed of a new golden age in which orange trees were supposed to represent divine trees.
They were admired by all for their ornamental quality, the beauty of their foliage, a bewitchingly fragrant bloom that blossomed as the fruit ripened; fruits that were not the ones we savour today but those of the bitter orange tree, the bitter oranges known for their precious peel and grown to produce decoctions and infusions with virtues.
Properties
Petitgrain Paraguay Essential Oil is known for its soothing properties against skin rashes, thanks to its composition of linalool and linalyl acetate (80%).
The Kiotis laboratory has shown, through in vitro scientific tests, that Petitgrain Paraguay essential oil strengthens the bond between the different layers of the skin. This patented property allows the skin to regain its radiance and delay the signs of aging.
On the surface it also stimulates the production of beta-endorphins for a relaxing effect.
Finally, it is able to limit the growth of the microbial flora for a purifying effect.
Did you know?
The term “petitgrain” refers to the tiny immature green fruits (in the shape of small grains) attached to the twigs and distilled with the leaves.
